Juru Coffee Ltd was established in 2009 with the planting of a 15-hectare coffee farm and officially
registered with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) in 2013. The company is rooted in a long-standing
tradition of coffee farming passed down through generations of its members and their families.
The name “Juru” is derived from the location of its main production plants, situated in the JURU Cell of Gahini
Sector in Kayonza District. In Kinyarwanda, “Juru” translates to sky or heaven, reflecting the high quality
and ethereal experience of their coffee.
Founded by a dedicated Promoter, Juru Coffee Ltd was created as a sustainable means of providing economic and social support to the community where he was born. This initiative was particularly crucial in the aftermath of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, which had devastating effects on the local economy.
